On this day, 49 years ago

I’ve been paying extra attention this past week to the Atlantic Basin; my brother just got married and decided to go to Marathon in the Florida Keys for his honeymoon.

While I was looking around, I learned on this day, in 1960, Hurricane Donna made landfall near Marathon. Hurricane Donna made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane and also made three more U.S. landfalls.

The following question comes to my mind: Could another major hurricane make a similar landfall on the same date? Fortunately, Hurricane Fred is nowhere near the Keys, however while the odds are low, anything is possible. Look at Codell, Kan. A tornado hit this town on May 20th three years in a row.
