Slight warm-up on tap for end of this week

Several days of below average temperatures, including three days of record coolest high temperatures (Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday), will come to an end by later this week.

Don't expect a major warm-up, but at least temperatures closer to the average highs by later this weekend. Highs may even reach the upper 50s by Friday with middle to upper 60s by Saturday and Sunday.

Looking ahead into the weather pattern over the next week or two, the jetstream pattern does change a little bit. It would favor some warmer-than-average weather across the Rockies, but for us we'd be closer to seasonal levels. Since we've been averaging about 10 degrees below the average so far this month, that could spell some milder highs toward the end of October. Let's hope!

Having said all of that, I've forecasted weather for over 12 years and know that forecasting beyond about 6-8 days is not known for its accuracy. It does, however, give us something to wish for.
