Tips on using your BaldwinCity.com blog
BaldwinCity.com provides a blog to every registered user. By creating your blog, you agree to follow our Use Policy Agreement.
Posting a blog entry
To create a new blog entry, simply click "Create an entry" on your blog page.
We've also added a link to "blog about this" on stories, photos and more that, when clicked, will allow you to create a blog entry about that particular story, photo, or other piece of BaldwinCity.com content. A link to your blog entry about that item will appear in the comments list for that piece of content.
Posting a YouTube video
Most video sharing sites allow you to link to or embed a video into a blog post. To post a YouTube video (or a video from a similar video site), simply paste the embed code from a video into the "Post new entry" entry form. The result will be that the YouTube video player will appear in your blog post. As with photos, you should not post videos that violate someone else's copyright.
Posting a Swivel data project
If you're a fan of crunching numbers and data visualization, you can embed a Swivel (or similar) object into your blog, much like you would embed a YouTube video.
Blog groups
We've created a variety of blog groups to help make it easy to organize blog posts topically.
We encourage users to look through the blog groups listing before creating new groups to prevent the addition of redundant groups.
Bloggers can join groups that have previously been created by going to the "join group" page or by selecting that group to associate an entry to when posting an entry. If there is not a group representing the topic you'd like to be a part of, you can create new blog group.
Naming your blog
Users can create and name their blog by selecting the "create a blog" link and following the instructions on the resulting page. Adding an entry your blog prior to naming it will result in your blog name defaulting to your username.
Changing the name of your blog
To request a change or corrections to your blog's name please use the form on our blog changes request page to specify the modifications you wish to make.
Removing your blog
If you no longer wish to maintain or use your blog, we can deactivate it upon request (we reserve the right to keep your blog and entries live on the site or sites it appears on as a historical community record). To make such a request, use the form on our blog changes request page.
Changing the name of a group
To prevent topic switching and abuse we currently prevent users from changing the name of a blog group after it has been created. To request a name change or corrections please use the form on our blog changes request page to specify the change you wish to make.
Adding links (like a blogroll)
User's can post links by following the "post a new link" link. A list of each user's links will be displayed in the left hand column of their blog.
Sending private messages to other users
Registered site users can send other users private messages (the messages don't reveal any identifying information besides their username and site profile page) by clicking on a user's screen name and then selecting the "Contact" link.
