City Support of Rain Barrels
My hubby and I are wanting to purchase rain barrels for our property to supplement our summer watering needs through capturing rain in catchmen devices. Many cities and counties are supplementing the cost of rain barrels and some rain barrel companies offer bulk purchasing. Is anyone out there interested in installing rain barrels? Has anyone done it here?

Annie, where have you been? Your voice has been missed…
I have not done the rain barrel thing, but think it's a great idea. I just let everything fry—it's sink or swim in my yard. Does that guy out at the junction (SE corner) sell barrels that can be put to such use? I think I see his ads in the Trading Post from time to time. I don't know what would have to happen for the city to subsidize such a purchase. If you ask anyone at City Hall, please share their response here.
As for strategies, you might look to back issues of Organic Gardener or get your hands on some of those old Foxfire books. I used to have both, but who knows where they've gotten to..

We would love to help you out on your rain barrel project. Take a look at http://www.aquabarrel.com and let us know how we can assist you further. Installation is not as hard as you think. I offer assistance via email - for free, if you will send a few digital images of your installation location I'll review and make suggestions.

The guy out at the junction has some nice inexpensive and clean barrels. I bought five @$15 apiece and got a sixth one free. There are lots of tips and instructions available on the internet. Just fit them to your situation.
