OK What Now?
This looks Great. To bad the graything is back on it. O Well.
Merry Christmas everone.
Sorry you're having such a terrible time, sawman. If you can get your cheese rematerialized, enjoy it. I'm enjoying the new scenery and amused at the bizarre things people will do.
This is going take some getting used to...
WOW!!! The new site looks good. I really like being able to just read all the comments one after the other without having to click on each one seperately. Hope to see all my speak out buddies soon. Merry Christmas!!!!! PS. I used to be Jersery Girl, thought it was time for a change.
New site's looking good! Maybe a few whiners should take this moment to apologize to Jeff for b****ing at him in the past about the old forum--since its appearance was never his fault. I'm glad the LJW brought Baldwin into the fold.
Go undercover for a few days and all kinds of interesting things happen. I wasn't aware that the new site and new Speakout had been enabled, but when I checked emails tonight (first time in days), a little birdie alerted me that this had happened. Not only that, but that I had posted something. Well... somebody using my name did...
I can't imagine that any long-time fellow posters will read the ersatz greyghost's blather and mistake it for my blather. People have unique writing styles, so careful readers will know that I'm the real deal. If the fake GG posts much, we'll probably get a pretty good idea of who that actually is, since most leopards don't easily change their spots. He'll give himself away.
I'm flattered, of course, that some identity-challenged individual thinks so little of his own persona and so highly of mine that he'd try to appropriate mine by scooping the posting name while I was away. Thanks, humble follower. I hope I will always be worthy of your adoration.
And when you grow up and develop some self-esteem, I hope you will have the confidence to leave my name, like a childhood security blanket, behind and register your own original name that you can be proud of.
Nice. A truncated word in almost every sentence. And the forum still lacks the ability to let you edit your post. And you get stuck with an empty blog by accidentally hitting a button while touring around. The pages serving the blogs must not be right yet because I can't publish anything to it. Nor can I delete it as the blog change request page isn't up. And Jeff can refuse to take a blog down even at the author's request. And there's no central index of comments so you've got to browse every article to see posts? I don't know...and I don't care if starting a sentence with 'and' is grammatically incorrect. And for the original gg I had a nice picture of some cheese to go with my whine, but it's just a cloud of electrons now.
I wouldn't characterize it as terrible OG, as BG says it's really nice to read all the posts in a thread on one page. But this isn't a thread, it's comments to Still Pools blog? I had hoped the ability to edit one's posts would come with the change, but you can only edit your blog? Apparently we can no longer post a photo in these comments. I'm guessing html is disabled for comments but not blogs? A bit confused but not terrible. I too find it amusing and do like the change in scenery.
One can only hope that the LJW will listen to your comments and do some tweaking. However, I think the deficiencies you point out have less to do with what they want to allow than with the capabilities of their programmers. As you undoubtedly know, it should be very easy to make all those suggestions, from being able to delete accidental new blogs to posting pictures and editing one's own comments, happen--and it seems like it would be in their best interest to do so.
Have you tried bribing them with cheese, crackers, and w(h)ine?
I like it. Can we still post html tags?
Merry Christmas everybody!
Does anybody know the correct way to gift wrap a dog?
They wrap just like ducks.
They were pretty quiet until I remembered to poke holes in the box....
Oh where, oh where have all the speak out users gone? We need Tony to post something controversial to get things going again! I miss my usual lunch hour entertainment. :)
That was a test, for whoever might be keeping track of comment numbers. The only way I can see to tell if anyone's posted. The bump sure didn't take the blog to the top of the page. Notice how you have to open every news story to see if anyone has commented? And again later to see if anyone else has commented. Link to blog change page yields a 'Page not found' and blog groups leads to 'Page unavailable'. LJW IT got awards? This isn't a forum anymore in any way shape or form. It's a convoluted radioactive bleb. Oh what the hell, I'm talking to myself.
