I think someone tried to steal plants out of our yard last night.

I think someone tried to steal plants out of our yard last night. Our dogs started barking like crazy about 8:00 PM and I figured it was just someone walking down the street. When I came out to go to work this morning it seems like someone was actually digging in one of our raised beds. At first, I thought it was probably just a dog but I don't think a dog would pull out pieces of the landscaping material and lay them aside in a neat pile. Anyone else have this happen? We just had a flag stolen from our a house a few months ago. Maybe I need to install some motion lights!

Wifi cameras, irrefutable evidence if you have them on video.

There are a number of domestic and feral animals that dig in garden beds. While nothing would surprise me I think that plants are bit creative for common thieves. There is a rather notorious group that rifles through peoples cars looking for cell phones, mp3 players etc. We have been hit twice but nothing was taken. They do not break windows so locking the doors seems the best way to deal with that. Motion lights are more of a hassle than they are worth since all our nocturnal visitors set them off. The camera idea is pretty good but I would imagine that you would need IR camera's and is it really worth it?

Are they close to the curb? Maybe someone just thought they were abandoned.

I completely agree with sawman and get yourself some camera's I have them at my house, they are worth the investment for personal and private safety.

They are pretty affordable now and you can get them online with a digital recorder or set them up to record to an online site.

With an internet connected wifi router you can monitor the cams from a cell phone. No monthly fees from monitoring companies. I use tinycammonitor pro on an android with foscam pannable cams. It can even alert your phone with motion detection and will record.
