Quoted from a flyer passed out to VES and MSE students and their families in Nov 2008: "Passing the bond reaffirms the importance of maintaining Vinland and Marion Springs in the long-term master planning of District facilities." Once the new school was completed the BOE became determined to close the rural schools. Mr. Dorathy once promised the rural teachers and patrons that he would never close schools in his administration. Many teachers remember the day he said this. His latest recommendation was to close both rural schools. How can we ever trust this board and administration in the future?
Due to the subject matter of some recent school board meetings, I am refreshing myself (and others) of a time not too long ago (two years)...................

Severe weather season usually lasts for two to three months in Eastern Kansas. However, there have been some years with much less activity. This season so far has seen much of the strongest activity focused to our south. That is somewhat expected through mid-May.
Please stop sending us propaganda at the tax payers expense. When I pay my state taxes I do not intend that those funds go into your glossy junk mail campaign. As a CPA you should know that every dollar adds up & I can't even guess how much of our money you have spent. What in the world happened with US 56 during this storm?!?! Usually, I can rest assured that once I get on Ames, it's pretty good going and few worries. However, this storm, it was awful. City streets were more clear - did KDOT forget 56 exists?
