AFTERNOON TO 9 AM CST THURSDAY...
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING DRIZZLE
REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 AM CST THURSDAY.
* SHORT TERM TRENDS...A BAND OF SCATTERED SLEET AND SNOW SHOWERS
WILL PUSH EAST THROUGH EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND WESTERN
MISSOURI INTO MID AFTERNOON. VERY MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW
AND SLEET WILL BE POSSIBLE...BUT ANY IMPACTS WILL BE MINIMAL.
A HEAVIER BAND OF SNOW...SLEET...AND SOME RAIN WILL THEN
OVERSPREAD THE OUTLOOK AREA FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST
LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT. MOST OF THE RAIN WILL BE
CONFINED TO FAR SOUTHERN MISSOURI. PRECIPITATION WILL
THEN TRANSITION TO AREAS OF FREEZING DRIZZLE LATE TONIGHT.
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN
EFFECT FOR EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND THE MISSOURI OZARKS
GENERALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY 60...OR A JOPLIN TO
EMINENCE LINE FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY
MORNING.
* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE HALF
INCH TO AROUND TWO INCHES ARE EXPECTED. THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL
GENERALLY OCCUR ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM FORT SCOTT KANSAS
TO LEBANON MISSOURI. MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET ARE ALSO
EXPECTED.
* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...AREAS OF FREEZING DRIZZLE LATE TONIGHT AND
EARLY THURSDAY MORNING MAY RESULT IN A VERY LIGHT GLAZE OF
ICE.
* VISIBILITY...THE VISIBILITY MAY BE REDUCED TO NEAR ONE HALF MILE
IN BANDS OF HEAVIER SNOW.
* IMPACTS...THE WINTRY MIX WILL IMPACT TRAVEL ESPECIALLY ON
BRIDGES...OVERPASSES AND SECONDARY OR UNTREATED ROADS. THIS WILL
INCLUDE THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS
AND SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI...AND THE MORNING COMMUTE ACROSS THE
ENTIRE ADVISORY AREA. TRAVEL CONDITIONS COULD VARY CONSIDERABLY
OVER SHORT DISTANCES GOING FROM WET ROADWAYS TO ICE AND SNOW
COVERED ROADWAYS.
