.A MULTITUDE OF FACTORS HAVE COME INTO PLAY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
FOG ACROSS THE QUAD STATE REGION. RAINFALL FROM THE STORMS ON
TUESDAY...COMBINED WITH LITTLE OR NO WIND...CHANGING SKY COVER AND
SOME RIDGING ALOFT HAS SET THE STAGE FOR POCKETS OF DENSE FOG
THROUGHOUT THE QUAD STATE REGION. VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY VARY
WIDELY FROM TIME TO TIME OVERNIGHT...WITH SHARP CHANGES IN A SHORT
PERIOD OF TIME. DRIVERS SHOULD BE CAUTIOUS OF THE DRAMATIC CHANGES
AND DRIVE ACCORDINGLY.
...DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CDT THIS MORNING...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CDT THIS MORNING FOR MOST
OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS..AS WELL AS PARTS OF SOUTHEAST
MISSOURI...SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND NORTHWEST KENTUCKY.
* VISIBILITY...ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHERN ILLINOIS WILL FREQUENTLY
DROP BELOW ONE QUARTER OF A MILE AT TIMES. LOCATIONS THAT
RECEIVED EXTENSIVE RAINFALL OR HAIL FROM TUESDAYS STORMS MAY SEE
DENSE FOG LINGER LONGER AFTER DAYBREAK. CHANGES IN CLOUD COVER
AND WIND WILL INTRODUCE SHARP CHANGES IN VISIBILITIES OVER SHORT
DISTANCES OVERNIGHT.
* IMPACTS...DUE TO CHANGES IN CLOUD COVER AND WINDS...THE LOCATION
OF THE DENSE FOG MAY CHANGE DRAMATICALLY FROM ONE SPOT TO
ANOTHER ON ROADWAYS OVERNIGHT AND THROUGH DAYBREAK. DRIVERS NEED
TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE TRAFFIC AROUND THEM. LEAVE PLENTY
OF ROOM BETWEEN YOURSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS...USE LOW BEAM OR FOG
LIGHT AND SIGNAL ANY LANE CHANGES WELL AHEAD SO THAT DRIVERS CAN
REACT.
