...WIDESPREAD FLOODING POSSIBLE OVER UPCOMING HOLIDAY WEEKEND...
A SLOW MOVING UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND ASSOCIATED SURFACE COLD
FRONT WILL BRING A COUPLE OF DAYS OF POTENTIALLY HEAVY RAINFALL
TO PORTIONS OF THE MIDSOUTH. AREAS PRIMARILY NORTH AND NORTHWEST
OF A MARIANNA ARKANSAS TO PARIS TENNESSEE LINE ARE THE MOST
LIKELY TO RECEIVE HEAVY AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION...WITH SOME
LOCATIONS IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS LIKELY TO EXCEED FIVE INCHES OF
RAIN THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK.
THE POTENTIAL FOR AREAL FLOODING IS HIGH BEGINNING ON FRIDAY AND
CONTINUING THROUGH MONDAY. BETWEEN 2.5 AND 6.0 INCHES OF RAIN IS
CURRENTLY EXPECTED TO FALL ACROSS MOST OF NORTHEAST ARKANSAS...THE
MISSOURI BOOTHEEL...AND PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST TENNESSEE. THIS WILL
CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR RIVER FLOODING...AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL
FOR THE FLOODING OF FLAT AND LOW LYING LANDS. FLASH FLOODING WILL
ALSO BE POSSIBLE IN AREAS WHERE HEAVY RAINFALL OCCURS.
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE BETWEEN MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY OF
NEXT WEEK WHICH COULD ADD TO THE RAINFALL TOTALS.
