...ACCUMULATING WINTRY PRECIPITATION CONTINUES TODAY...
.A COLDER AIR MASS CONTINUES TO SPREAD SOUTH INTO THE AREA.
TEMPERATURES HAVE DROPPED INTO THE 20S THROUGH MUCH OF THE
AREA...WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MIDDLE 20S NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE
44.
ALL SNOW IS NOW OCCURRING NORTH OF HIGHWAY 60 WITH FREEZING RAIN
OCCURRING ACROSS FAR SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI WITH AN AREA OF SLEET
IN BETWEEN. AS THE COLDER AIR CONTINUES TO SPREAD SOUTH THE
FREEZING RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SLEET THEN SNOW BY EARLY THIS
AFTERNOON...WITH ALL SNOW OCCURRING THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE
EVENING HOURS...BEFORE ENDING FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST. THE
BULK OF THE SNOW WILL END THIS EVENING WITH JUST LIGHT SNOW
LINGERING INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI.
THE HIGHER MARCH SUN ANGLE IS SO FAR LIMITING SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
IN MANY AREAS. HOWEVER...A HEAVIER BAND OF SNOW IS EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP NEAR THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR LATE THIS MORNING INTO
EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. THIS HEAVIER BAND WILL HAVE BETTER
POTENTIAL TO OVERCOME THE HIGHER SUN ANGLE. THE MODERATE TO HEAVIER
SNOW WILL LINGER ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI INTO THIS
EVENING...AND ONCE THE SUN STARTS TO SET...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL
INCREASE ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI.
SNOW AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN DECREASED SOME DUE TO THE LIGHTER
ACCUMULATIONS THIS MORNING...WITH 1 TO 2 INCHES NOW EXPECTED NORTH OF
INTERSTATE 44 WITH 2 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW ALONG THE INTERSTATE. 4
TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS FAR SOUTHERN AND SOUTH CENTRAL
MISSOURI. SOME ADDITIONAL SLEET ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS
EXTREME SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI BEFORE PRECIPITATION CHANGES OVER
TO ALL SNOW.
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST
THURSDAY...
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM
CST THURSDAY.
* SHORT TERM TRENDS...THE SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN THAT OCCURRED
EARLY THIS MORNING HAS NOW CHANGED TO ALL SNOW ACROSS THE
ADVISORY AREA. A BAND OF HEAVIER SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
NEAR THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR LATE THIS MORNING AND CONTINUING
INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS...BEFORE SLOWLY SHIFTING SOUTH THIS
AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING.
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...PORTIONS OF SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND
SOUTHWESTERN AND CENTRAL MISSOURI...INCLUDING THE GREATER
INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR...FROM THIS MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY
MORNING.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ONE TO FOUR INCHES WITH THE LIGHTEST NORTH
OF INTERSTATE 44 AND THE HEAVIEST ALONG AND SOUTH.
* WINDS AND VISIBILITY...MODERATE SNOW WILL LIKELY RESULT IN
VISIBILITY AT OR BELOW ONE MILE AT TIMES ON WEDNESDAY.

STARTING LATE TONIGHT...AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE DAY ON
WEDNESDAY.
