...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO
NOON CST SUNDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HASTINGS HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND FOR WIND CHILL...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST SUNDAY.
* HAZARDS...SNOW AND VERY COLD WIND CHILL VALUES.
* TIMING...PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THE EARLY EVENING.
BY LATE EVENING...SNOW WILL BEGIN TO ACCUMULATE. SNOW WILL TAPER
OFF AND END SUNDAY MORNING.
* WIND...NORTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO 25 MPH.
* ACCUMULATION...1 TO 3 INCHES...WITH THE GREATEST AMOUNTS
SOUTHEAST OF BELOIT.
* UNCERTAINTY...A BAND OF VERY HEAVY SNOW WILL FORM OVER CENTRAL
AND NORTHEASTERN KANSAS TONIGHT. MITCHELL COUNTY WILL BE ON THE
NORTHERN FRINGE OF THIS BAND. THERE IS SOME POTENTIAL THAT
SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS COULD BE LESS OR GREATER THAN CURRENTLY
INDICATED...BASED ON EXACTLY WHERE THE BAND DEVELOPS AND
RESIDES.
* WIND CHILL VALUES...AROUND 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO...MAINLY
BETWEEN 3 AM AND 9 AM.
* IMPACT...TRAVEL WILL BECOME HAZARDOUS DUE TO ACCUMULATING
SNOW...WITH POOR VISIBILITY AND SLIPPERY ROADS. IN ADDITION...
COLD RELATED INJURIES SUCH AS FROST BITE WILL OCCUR WITHIN 30
MINUTES...AND HYPOTHERMIA WILL BE LIKELY IF PROPER PRECAUTIONS
ARE NOT TAKEN.
