It was standing room only at Vinland Elementary School last Tuesday night as around 100 people attended a meeting to hear what a fact-finding committee has found so far in an effort to make additional budget cuts in the Baldwin School District. Among the considerations the committee is gathering information on is what could be saved by closing the elementary schools at Vinland and Marion Springs, which has brought strong reactions from those areas in past years. At the forefront of the photo is Gus Wegner, principal at both the rural schools, who explained the five-page outline the committee is researching with the hopes of reaching a March 5 deadline for the school board to consider.
