Carnival workers were the first to arrive Tuesday morning, carting in the rides and other carnival booths, etc., for this weekend's Maple Leaf Festival. They were setting up shop on High Street, west of City Hall. Usually, the country music tent is the first sign of the festival to appear. It made its appearance Tuesday afternoon like clockwork. It was set up with rain falling. Richard Wellman had .35 of an inch Tuesday and there was .40 at Vinland. The Signal will have a blog for the festival and people are encouraged to join in on it and submit photos from the 52nd version of the Baldwin City fall gala.
