Community Easter egg hunt tomorrow at ball fields

Great job with the egg hunt. We had a great time given the wet conditions.

USDA honors Baldwin school lunch program

I'm not a fan of the new federal guidelines. Some kids are underweight and need the extra protein and fat in their diets.

Baldwin board approves iPad purchase

I'm betting that a bulk discount is available. Why lease for that price? If it's a cash problem, forgo the new computer and laptop purchase for one year.

Baldwin school board starts conversation on staff concealed carry, armed guards in schools

If a teacher has a conceal carry permit, law enforcement training and proper weapon training, I don't see an issue allowing that teacher to conceal-carry. I think we are inviting trouble advertising that no one in the school has any weapons. Allowing teachers to carry is itself a deterrent, even if none of them actually carry a weapon.

Council to consider dinner train incentives

I thought I read something prior where the city subsidized the railway that was needed before the cars could come to Baldwin City.

Rescuing history

It was smart of the investors to make this offer. Without knowing the details, I'm sure that someone may have offered more for the building, the city could have auctioned the building starting with a negative $25 grand. It would have been interesting to know how much the taxpayers could have saved if the city would have let the market decide instead of taking the first offer they received.

Baldwin City Council complete visioning 2020 exercise

I agree. We need to stop trying to "grow" Baldwin City off the current resident's backs. Stop spending out money. If people want to find Baldwin, they have Google. They don't need $50K worth of signs.

If a new resident wants to build a house in Baldwin, they get a tax break. If a current resident wants to build a fence on their own property, they pay full price for the building permit. Something is wrong with our tax and spend policy.

Baldwin City plugs into expertise to navigate energy market

With lower natural gas prices, I'm curious how much it costs Baldwin City to produce one megawatt of power.
