Bhai Sahib Bachiter Singh Ji, head priest of the Midwest Sikh Gurudwara, lights a candle for his son Sahib Singh as Charanjit Hundal, a spokesman for the temple, addresses the vigil crowd. Hundal reminded attendees that the Sikh faith teaches members to accept God’s will, even tragedies. One positive outcome of the Aug. 5 tragedy, he noted, has been the “heartwarming” show of support for the local Sikh community.
