51st annual Maple Leaf Festival October 24, 2008
The 51st annual Maple Leaf Festival took over Baldwin City for the third weekend of October. Thousands of visitors enjoyed two sunny, warm days to shop for crafs, ride carnival rides, hang out with friends and family, eat food and the annual parade.

The Clinton Eagles 4-H group finished runner-up in the float competition at Saturday's Maple Leaf Festival parade. The Baldwin Junior High School cheerleaders won first.
The Kids' Zone petting zoo was a popular place for children and families all weekend at the 51st annual Maple Leaf Festival.
David Cone, animal care specialist, feeds "Splash" a pork loin Saturday at the Maple Leaf Festival. "Splash" is a white tiger with Zoo Dynamics' Royal White Tiger Discovery. The exhibit is a new attraction to the annual festival, which ends Sunday afternoon.
The Baldwin High School marching band was one entry in the Maple Leaf Festival parade Saturday that made the corner at Sixth and High streets under the newly relocated festival banner. Beautiful weather graced the festival for both days of the 51st annual run.
Emma Wedel, 2, Baldwin City, was all smiles as she rode the kiddie roller coaster Sunday afternoon. She was with her parents, Tony and Jenni Wedel, at the carnival.
Gabrielle Huntoon, 3, had her face painted by a member of Baker's Delta Delta Delta sorority shortly after Saturday's parade. Huntoon lives in Baldwin with her parents Ivan and Bonnie.

The Maple Leaf Festival parade grand marshals ride in convertibles to lead the parade. In the front car is Danny and Becky McMillen, with Rick and Vickie Weaver in the car behind them.
Morgan Edman, 10, Lawrence, enjoys the craft tent at the Kids' Zone Saturday. Edman, who turns 11 this weekend, came to the festival with her mother, Linda Edman.
