Winter weather December 28, 2007
Recent winter storms, including snow and ice, have blanketed the area. Here are some pictures from in and around Baldwin City.
Saturday's sleet and snow storm had birds of all feathers looking for food at feeders when the sun came back out north of Vinland on Dec. 16.
Baldwin City's snow removal crew continued piling the snow in the center of High Street on Dec. 28. Snow fell the night before, leaving several inches on the already snow-covered ground.

Freezing rain coated everything in and around Baldwin City recently. Even this Douglas County Road 1055 sign had icicles hanging from it after the freezing rain.
The sleet storm that hit the area Dec. 22 pounded this shed north of Baldwin City. Several inches of snow covered the icy ground later that day.

The Downtown Streetscape Project hasn't changed the way the city clears High Street of snow. The long-time practice of piling it up in the center of the street continues.

Even the squirrels were searching for food after another recent snowfall. This squirrel took advantage of a bird feeder to find his meal.
A group of Baldwin City youths took to the traditional sledding hill at Signal Oak, north of town, recently to take advantage of the snow that had fallen in and around the city.
