Angie keeps a watchful eye on her surroundings as her owner, Roger Boyd, professor emeritus at Baker University, and Mark Wallendorf, refuge manager for the Baker Wetlands, pick seeds from various wetlands plants on Wednesday. Boyd and Wallendorf plan to collect millions of seeds in preparation for spring plantings in the western adjacent corn and soybean fields to help pave the way for an extended South Lawrence Trafficway. The duo collected spikerush, spring avens and arrow leaf on the early afternoon outing.
