“I donate baby quilts to hospitals and a women’s shelter. Also, I crochet scarves and donate where needed.”

I've been a volunteer commission member for the city Parks and Recreation Board for almost two years. In addition, I volunteer on individual community projects as they arise throughout the year such as the library Jazz-on-the-Lake fundraiser coming in February. Before moving to Bonner, I helped at a local animal shelter, which led to the adoption of my dog Bandi.

I volunteer at Animal Haven KC. I started out socializing the cats in the shelter, but now I foster animals that need to be away from the shelter for some reason or another. Some of the animals just need some time away from the shelter because they've been there awhile, while others have needed time and a quiet place to put on some weight or recover from illness. I often have litters of puppies or kittens that aren't old enough to be spayed or neutered, or are too scared to be adopted at the moment. In that case, they stay with me until they are ready to be adopted, and I let the shelter know about their temperaments, any restrictions (can't be around cats, scared of kids, etc.) or preferences so that we can find their perfect forever home. Yes, I am the crazy cat (or dog) lady!
