Charles Gilliland 1924 - 2013 Baldwin City

Dudley Gilliland, age 89, of Baldwin City died September 3 in Baldwin City. He was born on April 26, 1924 in rural Douglas County to Charles B. and Martha (Barnhart) Gilliland.
He attended Excelsior Elementary School and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1942. Following graduation, he hauled canned milk for Dillon-Bartell and in 1959 became co-owner of Gilliland-Keller bulk milk route for Mid America Dairymen and retired in 1989. Following his retirement, he worked for 10 years for Brown Cargo Van as a driver.
Dudley married Marie L. Gastrock in 1949 near Wamego, Kansas. She preceded him in death. He was a member of Worden United Methodist Church and a Trustee for many years. He was the 4th generation to live on the family farm. He is survived by three sons, Jan Gilliland of Glendale, Arizona; David Gilliland of Baldwin City and Jeff Gilliland and wife Renita of Carol Stream, IL, as well as 4 grandchildren; Tina Caruthers, Justin Gilliland, Amber Gilliland, and Cece Gilliland, and a great grandson, Kaden Caruthers. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013, at Worden United Methodist Church, rural Baldwin City. Burial will follow at Worden Cemetery.
The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Worden United Methodist Church.
