Howard J. Hooker Jr. 1917 - 2011 Baldwin City

Private services for Howard J. Hooker Jr., 94, of Baldwin City, will be at a later date.
Mr. Hooker died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of the Rev. Howard and Dorothy (Dean) Hooker.
Mr. Hooker grew up in Pontiac. He later moved to Corvallis, Ore., and McMinnville, Ore. In June 1946 he moved to Glendale, Calif., where he stayed until 2001 when he moved to Baldwin City.
He graduated from Pontiac Senior High School and later attended the University of Southern California.
Mr. Hooker served from 1943 to 1946 in the United States Army Air Corps, during World War II, attaining the rank of Aviation cadet.
He was in the real estate business from 1947 to 1987 in Glendale, Calif., both as a self-employed Realtor and from 1971 through 1987 Executive Vice President of the Glendale Board of Realtors.
He was a 50-year member of Glendale Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon and elder.
On December 31, 1936, he married Pansie Lucille Neal in Harrisburg, Ill. She and a son, Larry, preceded Mr. Hooker in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Lam (Lloyd) Baldwin City; a son, Neal Hooker, Santa Barbara, Calif.; five grandchildren,; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Cremation is planned.
