Ronald Steven 'Steve' Venable 1958 - 2011 Olathe
Memorial services for Ronald Steven (Steve) Venable, 53, Olathe, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, Baldwin City.
Mr. Venable died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born July 31, 1958, in Garden City, the son of Merle and Janet Venable.
Mr. Venable attended Jane Brooks School (for the Deaf) in Chickasha, Okla., Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, and graduated from Baldwin High School in Baldwin City with the class of 1977. He was an outstanding nose guard on his father’s 1975 and 1976 football teams, and was regional champion in wrestling in 1975. He attended Johnson County Community College and graduated in 1981 from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, Texas, with a degree in machine technology.
Mr. Venable was employed in various jobs, including for Holiday Inn and King Radio, before he began working as an air mechanic at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
He had been a member of the Olathe Deaf Club.
Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Shane Venable and Scott Venable (Jill), both of Baldwin City; a sister Susan Venable (Mato Veber), Chicago; and David Routh, who rendered unconditional friendship and caregiving to Mr. Venable.
The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Lamb-Robert Funeral Home, Baldwin City.
