Aileen Hartpence 1918 - 2011 Lawrence

Services for Aileen Hartpence, 93, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.
Mrs. Hartpence died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence, KS
She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Miami County, the daughter of Reuben W. and Fredonia Quellhorst Myers.
She worked as a secretary at Baker University in the Dean’s Office and retired from the Anderson Byrd Richeson Law Firm in Ottawa. She had lived in Baldwin City and Ottawa and before she moved to Lawrence in 1989.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrence.
She married George W. Hartpence on April 20, 1937, in Topeka. He died April 13, 2010.
Survivors include a daughter, LaWanda Fritzson, Topeka; a son, Doug (Robin) Hartpence, Lawrence; a sister, Bernadine Broers, Baldwin City; a brother, Gale (Helen) Myers, Kentucky; six grandsons; and two stepgranddaughters.
A son, Roger, and a granddaughter died earlier.
The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Grace Hospice or First Christian Church, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
