Edward H. 'Ed' Kapelle 1925 - 2011 Topeka
Services for Edward “Ed” H. Kapelle, 86, Topeka, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Highland Park United Methodist Church Topeka. Burial with military honors will be in Overbrook Cemetery.
Mr. Kapelle died Sunday, July 24, 2011.
He was born April 8, 1925, in Baldwin City, the son of Edward F. and Louise Kapelle. He was a graduate of Baldwin High School.
Mr. Kapelle was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a salesman for M. Katch & Co. and later owned and operated Motor Parts Inc., from which he retired in 1987.
He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, Allenspark Community Church, Allenspark Area Club, both in Allenspark, Colo., and American Legion Post No. 32.
On Feb. 14, 1947, he married Ann Collins in Baldwin City. His wife and a son, Dan Kapelle, died earlier.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane (John) Stonebraker, Judy (Dave) Sorrell and Joni (Steven) Atherly; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandsons and his first great-granddaughter due in August.
Edward will lie in repose after 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
