Patricia Ann (Shay) Butell 1944 - 2011 Baldwin City
Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia Ann (Shay) Butell, 66, Baldwin City, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Baldwin City.
Mrs. Butell died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at her home after battling pancreatic cancer for the past two years.
She was born Aug. 14, 1944, in Fairfield, Calif., the daughter of Retus Andrew and Francis Marie (Ferrell) Shay. She attended Edgerton schools in her early years and attended and graduated from Ursuline Academy in Paola. She furthered her education by graduating from KC School of Cosmetology.
Mrs. Butell was employed at Hallmark Cards in the early 1960s. Soon after, she started working as a beautician. She was employed by Delco in the early 1970s and then transferred to the GMAD Leeds Plant. Later, she worked part time at the home of the president of Baker University.
She was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin City.
On Oct. 16, 1965, she married Larry H. Butell in Edgerton. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Bradley Michael (Angela) Butell and Brian Anthony (Danell) Butell , both of Baldwin City, and Brett Stephen Butell, Topeka; four grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Nita) Shay, Donna, Texas; and a sister, Cindy Shay, Edgerton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 712 Ninth St., Baldwin City, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehab and Hospice, St. Joseph’s Indian School of Chamberlain, S.D. and/or St. Bonaventure Indian Mission and School of Thoreau, N.M., sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006
