Jeffery S. Valentine 2010 - 2010 Baldwin City
A Service of Remembrance for Jeffery S. Valentine, 47, of Baldwin City will be 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin City. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Douglass Cemetery in Douglass .
Mr. Valentine died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 26, 1963, in Winfield, the son of Bill and Margie (Olmstead) Valentine. He attended Douglass schools, where he was valedictorian of his senior class. He went on to attend Wichita State University for two years, before attending the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center Air Traffic Training Academy.
Since 1988, Mr. Valentine was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration at the Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center in Olathe. He was a respected employee whose responsibilities included the training of many other controllers.
His favorite activity was watching his children play sports, and he coached his children when they were young in many different activities.
On Aug. 1, 1992, in St. Marys, he married Marilee Baumchen. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include his mother, Margie Valentine, Douglass; his father, Bill Valentine, Douglass; a son Dayton Valentine, and daughter, Corey Valentine, both of the home; a brother, Tracy (Lisa) Valentine, North Bend, Wash.; two sisters, Shawna (Shelby) Green and Sydney Hurd, both of Douglass; and his maternal grandmother, Virginia Olmstead, Douglass
Informal visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.
