Donald L. Bailey 1925 - 2010 Baldwin City

Services for Donald L. Bailey, 85, Baldwin City, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Vinland United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona.
Mr. Bailey died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1925, in Quenemo, the son of Arthur E. and Florence Brann Bailey. He attended Quenemo schools and graduated in 1943 from Quenemo High School. He joined the U.S Army in 1944 and served in the South Pacific.
Mr. Bailey was employed in the construction industry. He also worked at Lehigh Printing, and was a custodian for First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and had served as the creel clerk at Douglas County State Lake.
He married Geraldine Pearce in 1948. They later divorced. He married Talitha E. Wiseman in 1982. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Steve) Rice, Smithville, Mo., and Nancy Devers, Pomona; a son, Deely (Vicky) Bailey, Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Larry Bailey, Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence.
