Melvin E. Kreshel 1931 - 2010 Baldwin City
Funeral services were Friday for Melvin E. Kreshel, 78, Baldwin City, who died Jan. 19, 2010, at home. Burial followed at Carbondale Cemetery.
He was born on March 24, 1931, in Wilbur, Neb., to Adolph and Helen (Wanek) Kreshel.
Mr. Kreshel worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Topeka as a heating, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic, retiring in the late 1980s. He attended Ives Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of the Master Gardeners, the Masons and was an avid square dancer.
He married Shirley Dempsey in 1955. They later divorced.
Survivors include his daughter, Debby Combs and husband Doug, Baldwin City; his long-time significant other, Margie Adcock, of the home; a brother, Ken Kreshel and wife Bonnie, Wilbur, Neb.; sisters Elva Davis and husband Robert, Roseburg, Ore., and Phyllis Hronik and husband Frank, Seward, Neb.; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael, in 1988.
