He was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Jane Tully and Arthur A. Arndt. The family moved to the Los Angeles area in 1920.
Mr. Arndt worked for Safeway for seven years and then worked for Shell Oil Co. in California and helped open the Anacortes refinery. During World War II, he was a Seabee for the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific.
In 1937, he married Mae Goodwin and they had one son, Michael. He married Mildred C. Parish in 1947. She preceded him in death. He married Maryann Counts Baker in 1988. She survives
Other survivors include his son, Michael, and his wife Barbara; three grandchildren; a stepson, Ray Parrish; a sister, Dorthea Plant; a brother, Dean Arndt; four great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Counts, Baldwin City.
