Harold P. Holtz 1921 - 2009 Baldwin City

Funeral services for Harold P. Holtz, 88, Baldwin City, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home in Falls City, Neb. Burial will be in Steele Cemetery, Falls City.
Mr. Holtz, formerly of Falls City, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in Baldwin City.
He was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Norfolk, Neb., the son of George and Ruth Grimm Holtz. He moved to Paola as a child.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942, and served during World War II with the 462nd Artillery as a truck driver in the European Theater. He served at the Battle of the Bulge. He earned a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 26, 1945.
He had worked for the city of Falls City’s street department, Frontier at Falls City, and the Hiawatha Shutter Factory in Hiawatha, Kan. He retired in 1983 and moved to Pratt, then moved to Baldwin City in November 2005.
Mr. Holtz was a member of Christ Lutheran Church at Falls City, where he held many positions on the church council, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1765 in Falls City.
He married Patricia Standiford on Dec. 26, 1946, in Paola. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Les, of Lawrence; a daughter, Coralie Donley, of Burkburnett, Texas; a brother, Herbert, of Seward, Neb.; three sisters, Arlene Benedict, Phoenix, Alice Kester, Columbus, Mont., and Dorothy Brandt, Paola; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A son, Paul, and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
