Marvin E. Flory 1923 - 2009 Baldwin City

Funeral services for Marvin E. Flory, 85, Baldwin City, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Willow Springs Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.
Mr. Flory died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
He was born June 22, 1923, near Cerro Gordo, Ill., the son of Riley and Ruth Beeghley Flory. He was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on Aug. 15, 1948.
Mr. Flory retired as a plumber at Kansas University. He formerly worked for the Road and Bridge Department in Douglas County and did maintenance at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. He was a member of Willow Springs Old German Baptist Brethren Church in southwest Douglas County.
He married Eula Belle Shuler on Dec. 23, 1947. They lived near Cerro Gordo, Ill., until 1957, when they moved near Baldwin City. She died July 14, 1958. He married Anna Catherine Mohler on March 26, 1959, near Baldwin City. They lived near Lawrence. She died Nov. 24, 2002.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Leora Marie; a sister, Anne Hess; and a grandson, Isaiah James Flory.
Survivors include a daughter, Julia Arlene Campbell and husband John Kevin, Knob Noster, Mo.; four sons, James Leonard and wife Phyllis, Lawrence, Chris Allen and wife Linda, Baldwin City, Benjamin Riley, Richmond, and Bradley Marvin and wife Sue Ann, Waynesboro, Pa.; two brothers, John Elmer and wife Elsie, Covington, Ohio, and Norman and wife Pauline, Eldorado, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
