Ruth S. Forman 1921 - 2008 Lawrence

Memorial services for Ruth S. Forman, 87, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Inurnment will be in Pioneer Cemetery.
Mrs. Forman died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born Jan. 28, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of John C. and D. B. Croswhite Skaggs. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1938. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Kansas City Junior College and attended the University of Illinois for a year.
Mrs. Forman worked as a travel agent for 15 years with Sunflower Travel and Holiday Travel in Lawrence before she retired. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and the University Women's Club. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority at University of Illinois and was active in the alumni chapter at Kansas University. She was a member and past president of Chapter AZ of P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She married George W. Forman on Aug. 9, 1941, in Forest Hills, N.Y. He died July 19, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Forman Cigard, Baldwin City; a son, John S. Forman, Newcastle, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Forman, in February of 2003.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation or Chapter AZ of P.E.O., sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
