Thomas C. Hitchcock 1929 - 2008 Lawrence
Memorial service for Thomas C. “Tom” Hitchcock, 79, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Private family inurnment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City.
Mr. Hitchcock died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Baldwin City, the son of Merle L. “Ty” and Josephine J. “Peggy” Schwartz Hitchcock.
Mr. Hitchcock worked for 25 years as a third-generation pharmacist at Hitchcock Drug Store in Baldwin City. From 1978 to 1988 he was assistant to the dean at the School of Pharmacy at Kansas University. He served as the executive director on the State Board of Pharmacy in Topeka from 1988 to 1998.
Mr. Hitchcock was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member and past president of the Kansas State Pharmacy Association and also a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity at Baker University.
He married Marjorie Stiles on Sept. 27, 1948, in Baldwin City. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Jon and wife Lorilyn, Arizona, and Richard and wife Rhonda, Baldwin City; one daughter, Denise Lawson and husband, John, Olathe; and four grandchildren, Kristin, Sarah and Lindsey Hitchcock and Tommy Lawson.
The family will greet friends following the service.
