Mary Pat Chadwick 1934 - 2008 Vermillion

Vermillion — Mass of Christian burial for Mary Pat Chadwick, 74, Vermillion, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Coal Creek. Mrs. Chadwick died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia after battling ALS.
She was born Feb. 8, 1934, in the Coal Creek Community, the daughter of William J. and Helen M. McMahon McNally. She graduated from Havensville High School in 1952.
Mrs. Chadwick worked as a key-punch operator for the Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for nine years and later was the bookkeeper for Pottawatomie County Rural Water District No. 3, and worked for the Neuchatel Election Board for many years.
Mrs. Chadwick was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Coal Creek until it closed and then was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Lillis, where she was a member of the Altar Society.
She married Elton “Ray” Chadwick on Jan. 7, 1961, at Onaga. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Greg Chadwick, Emporia, Tim Chadwick, Ulysses, Neb., and Steven Chadwick, Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Susan K. Baker, Wellsville, Jean Warner, Centralia, and Patricia Thowe, Belvue; one brother, Roger McNally, Havensville; two sisters, Kathleen Werner, Topeka, and Colleen Moran, Salina; and 15 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday at the Tessendorf-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga where rosaries will be said at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Northwestern University ALS Research and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
