Byron B. Shuck 1923 - 2008 Ottawa

Funeral services for Byron B. Shuck, 84, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery in Douglas County.
Mr. Shuck died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Village West in Ottawa.
He was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Pleasant Grove, the son of Oscar Byron and Mary Gertrude Deay Shuck. He attended Baldwin High School. He lived in Douglas and Franklin counties. He moved to Idaho Springs, Colo., in 1969 and returned to Ottawa in 1973.
Mr. Shuck was a farmer and mechanic most of his life and operated machinery for Franklin County. He retired in 1987. He managed storage units in Baldwin City after retirement. He was a member of First Christian Church in Ottawa and a former member of the Ottawa Bowling Association.
He married Dorothy "Beth" Kring on Sept. 19, 1942, in Douglas County. She died April 7, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Oscar Byron Shuck; his mother, Mary Gertrude Deay Shuck; a son, Leonard Shuck; a sister, Evelyn Wray; and two brothers, Charlie and Lloyd Shuck.
Survivors include three daughters, Dianna Carey Taylor and husband Bud, Ottawa, Katherine Kistler Smith, Olathe, and Carolyn White, Edgerton; a daughter-in-law, Dee Ann Shuck, Ottawa; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary until the services, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
