Mary M. Nusbaum 1912 - 2007
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary M. Nusbaum, 95, Eudora, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Eudora. Mrs. Nusbaum died Dec. 16, 2007, at her home.
She was born July 5, 1912, at Marysville, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Trienan) Ellenbecker. She graduated from schools in Marysville before training at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. She taught at Pleasant Ridge.
She married Robert Nusbaum Nov. 22, 1937. They ran grocery stores in Nortonville, Valley Falls and Eudora. She worked at Sunflower Ammunition Plant and helped with the couple's part-time business of replacing the cane seats on antique chairs.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for 50 years.
Survivors include one son, Robert, Charleston, S.C.; four daughters, Virginia Hafsahl, Seattle, Wash., Rosemary Murphy, Baldwin City, Rozanne Wadleigh, Essex Junction, Vt., Patricia McGivern, Topeka; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Joseph, Charles and Leo, and one granddaughter, Morgyn.
A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel followed by visitation at 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, or Hospice of Douglas County and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
