Garnett — The Baldwin High School boys scored 12-straight points in the second quarter Tuesday to pull away from Anderson County and notch their first victory of the young season. The 46-32 victory will put Baldwin in the third-place contest Friday of the Bulldog-Wildcat Classic against a still undetermined opponent.
Five Baldwin players selected to Frontier League post-season first team

Five Baldwin High School football players were named to the All-Frontier League first team with two Bulldogs earning both offensive and defensive first-team honors. Senior Christian Gaylord, a University of Nebraska commit, was an all-league first-team offensive line selection for the third time and named a second-straight year on the first-team defensive line.

The Baldwin High School soccer team had six players selected to Frontier League all-league teams, which were released in the last week. The all-league teams were dominated by players from Baldwin, De Soto and Ottawa, all of which advanced to the Class 4-1A state tournament. De Soto defeated Baldwin, 1-0, to get to the final four and lost to the Ottawa, 1-0, in the third-place contest after both teams lost in the semi-finals.
Baker football team back to winning ways

The No. 13-ranked Baker University football team bounced back after two straight losses with a 28-14 road victory Saturday at Central Methodist University. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 8-2 overall and 6-2 in the HAAC, while the Eagles fell to 4-6 and 3-5 in the conference. The Wildcats are now ranked 12th in the national NAIA poll. Baker is now all alone in second place in the HAAC standings, as MidAmerica Nazarene and Missouri Valley are tied for first place at 7-1. Baker will host No. 9 Missouri Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday for senior day.

Fourth-year head coach Ben Lister recorded his 100th career victory as a head coach Tuesday night in the No. 10-ranked Wildcats 67-53 won at home against Lindenwood-Belleville. Lister is now 56-45 at Baker. The Wildcats improved to 3-2 with the win, while the Lynx fell to 1-2 overall.
Baldwin bows out of state playoffs with 24-12 loss at Fort Scott

Fort Scott — The inability to finish drives proved costly Friday, as the Baldwin Bulldogs fell 24-12 to Fort Scott in the first round of the Class 4A-I playoffs. Three times, the Bulldogs saw promising drives end as the result of penalties, muffed snaps or other mistakes that cost the team valuable yardage.
Baldwin falls to De Soto, 1-0, in first-round of state soccer finals

De Soto’s Austin Culver scored with 24 minutes to play, giving the Wildcats the only goal in a 1-0 match that ended Baldwin High School’s soccer season in the first-round of the state playoffs. Baldwin came alive after that goal, mounting a number of strong scoring attacks but could not get the needed goal.
