The Baldwin High School girls soccer team today won its third match of the season and its second in the last three games with a 4-0 home shutout of Bishop Seabury Academy. Baldwin got two goals each from sophomore Erica Petry and junior Sierra McKinney in the victory.

The Baker University baseball team ended its 2014 regular season on Monday afternoon with a split at Avila University, the Wildcats won games one and three of the series, 3-1 and 7-1, respectively, but fell in games two and four, 3-2 and 1-0.

Baldwin High School is looking for a new boys basketball coach with the resignation of Dustin Leochner earlier this month. His resignation was among the changes listed in the personnel report the Baldwin school board approved Monday.

The young Baldwin High softball team continued to struggle in Frontier League play, going 0-4 in the last week. Baldwin lost a doubleheader Tuesday at Louisburg, 5-4, 7-4, and was swept at home Thursday by defending 4A state champion De Soto, 12-11, 8-2.

The day before the start of the KU Relays, Baldwin High’s Alexia Stein was ready for the warmer weather and competition she expected to see in Lawrence. To that point, the Bulldog junior hadn’t seen much of either. Stein collected gold in the shot put and discus in her first three meets. That success included first-place finishes against stepped-up competition at the Pre-State Classic in Wichita and the Baker Relays.
