Baldwin downs Paola, 2-1, in ‘low-energy’ game

The Baldwin High School soccer team bounced back from its first loss of the season to defeat visiting Paola, 2-1, in a Thursday Frontier League match. The Bulldogs had a much easier time is shutting out Paola, 8-0, on Sept. 2 on the road, and neither BHS coach Mark Joslyn nor his players were pleased with the team’s latest performance.

Baker moves up in NAIA poll after road win

The Baker University football team moved up in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll with its win Saturday at Evangel. The 3-0 Wildcats haven’t been in this spot in the poll since they finished as the national runner-up in 1986.
Baldwin shows little rust in four-set victory against Ottawa

The Baldwin High School volleyball team showed little rust from a week away from competition Tuesday as it put away Ottawa in four sets, 25-13, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19. The victory kept Baldwin perfect in the Frontier League with a 3-0 record. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs came out ready to play.
Boys cross country fifth, girls sixth at Baldwin Invitation

A hint to why the Baldwin High School cross country teams have experienced so much success could be found in the runners response to their performance at Saturday’s Baldwin Invitational. The boys finished fifth and the girls sixth in the nine-team meet that drew a field of 5A and 6A schools to compete on the Bulldogs home course at the Baldwin City Golf Course.
Baldwin suffers first defeat of year with 1-0 loss to Ottawa

The Baldwin Bulldogs were knocked from the ranks of the undefeated when visiting Ottawa was able to make Conner Stepp’s late goal stand up for a 1-0 victory in Frontier League play. The match has major implications in Frontier League and post-season play. Baldwin probably will need to win its Oct. 16 rematch at Ottawa if it is to be the host team in a possible post-season regional matchup between the two squads. With the win, Ottawa improved to 5-0 on the year. Baldwin’s record fell to 6-1-1 and 5-1 in the Frontier League.
Baldwin tops Kaws, 35-14, for first win of season

Perry — As the Bulldog Bulldogs were about to break their post-game huddle after Friday’s 35-14 victory, coach Mike Berg related a message from Perry-Lecompton coach Mike Paramore. “He said you were the most physical team they’ve faced in years,” Berg said. “That’s quite a compliment.”
Baldwin blows out Eudora in soccer, look ahead to tough week

The Baldwin boys soccer team ripped off its fifth consecutive win and stayed undefeated in Frontier League play with a 6-0 home victory Monday against Eudora. With the win, Baldwin improved to 5-0-1 on the year and 4-0 in the Frontier League. The team has not surrendered a goal in league play.
Baldwin HIgh School volleyball team rebounds to defeat Paola

An up-and-down week for the Baldwin High School volleyball team ended on a high note Tuesday with a five-set home-match victory against Paola, 25-23, 24-26, 22-25, 25-11, 15-8. Coach Jill Brown said she was happy with the way her team finished off Paola, a squad the Bulldogs have beaten in three of four matches this year. The loss came Saturday during the Bulldogs’ final match in the consolation bracket of the Baldwin Invitational.
Baldwin cross country teams impressive at Wamego

Baldwin High School cross county teams proved their worth Saturday at the home of the 4A cross country state finals. The boys team had an especially impressive performance on the race ran on the Wamego Country Club, easily winning the event with a team score of 46 points. That was less than half that of runner-up Wamego.

With 1:17 seconds left in the game Sterling quarterback Reggie Langford connected with Dentton Hudspetch on a five-yard touchdown to put Sterling one point away from tying it up with Baker, 31-30.
Piper shuts out Baldwin in football home opener

Baldwin was unable to take advantage of two first-half scoring opportunities and gave the visiting Piper a second chance on its second touchdown drive in a 20-0 loss Friday to the visiting Pirates. With the loss, Baldwin fell to 0-2 on the year with both losses coming in non-league action.
