Baldwin volleyball team splits senior night matches
The Baldwin Bulldog volleyball team tuned up Tuesday for sub-state with by splitting a home triangular.
Baldwin lost to KC Piper, 10-25, 24-26, and defeated West Franklin, 29-27, 25-22, in the senior night competition.
“We passed the ball really well all night,” BHS coach Jill Brown said. “In the Piper match, we struggled with our attack. Piper had a very athletic middle who put up a pretty big block. We did a much better job in the second set of hitting around her.
“In the West Franklin match, we also passed well and were much more aggressive in our attack.”
In the matches, seniors Kelsey Kehl had seven kills, Emma Burnett six and sophomore KelleeWiggins five.
“Emma continues to play well,” Brown said. “She’s been very aggressive attacking the ball with very few errors. She also does a nice job running the offense and is playing some great defense as well. We can’t ask too much more from her.”
The team will next play at the 4A Division II sub-state Saturday at Santa Fe Trail.
Team stats: Emma Burnett, 7 kills, 11 assists, 20 digs; Kelsey Kehl, 16 kills, 15 digs; Kellee Wiggins 7 kills
