Baker mens soccer opens NAIA playoff Saturday
The No. 3 seeded and 2015 Heart regular season champion Baker University men’s soccer team will host Wiley College at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Opening Round of the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship.
This is the third-straight appearance for the Wildcats in the NAIA Opening Round and first at home since the 2013 season when they defeated Midland, 2-1, in double overtime.
Baker enters the tournament with a record of 17-3-1 and a mark of 8-2 in its last 10 matches.
The Wildcats entered the Heart Conference Tournament as the No. 1 seed, but fell to No. 2 Missouri Valley, 2-1, in double overtime.
The Wildcats are led by 2015 Heart Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year, Amer Didic.
The Baker defense collected 12 shut out victories this season and posted six All-Conference performers including First Team All-Conference goalkeeper Ryan Emme.
The Wiley Wildcats clinched their first-ever NAIA National tournament berth in men’s soccer with a 3-1 win over University of the Southwest for the Red River Athletics Conference Championship.
Wiley enters the postseason, 8-5-1, overall and is 5-4-1 in its last 10 matches.
