Paola girls pull away for Baldwin in second half

December 16, 2015

Paola — The Paola Panthers won the battle of two runner-up 4A teams from a year go, defeating Baldwin on Tuesday, 69-51.

Paola, the second-place team in 4A Division I, and 4A Division II runner-up Baldwin lost significant inside muscle and depend on pressing defenses to make up for those losses. Both teams were able to handle the pressure, which proved a big plus for Paola, who exploited what height they do have returning with 5-10 senior Morgan Lauden scoring a game-high 21.

Lauden scored the first five points of the third quarter, helping Paola go on a 14-1 run to start the second half after the Panthers led, 33-29 at half.
