Baldwin girls bounce back to defeat Anderson County

December 8, 2015

Louisburg — The Baldwin High School girls forced Anderson County into 19 first-half turnovers as they cruised to a 62-39 victory Tuesday in the Bulldog-Wildcat Classic.

Each team in the six-team early season tournament plays two games in pool play to determine brackets for a final round of play. Baldwin lost Monday 60-58 to Chanute. It will play for third-place Friday against an as-yet undeterred opponent from the other pool.

Baldwin bounced back for the first-game loss, coming out aggressively and putting the game away early. The Bulldogs scored the first 11 points in the game on their way to a 19-6 lead. Anderson County had 12 turnovers in the opening period against Baldwin’s full-court pressure and trapping half-court defense and didn’t get a shot at the basket until six minutes into the game.

Baldwin senior Kyna Smith led all scorers with 18 points and connected on five three-pointers.
