Baldwin boys improved to 3-0, to play for Bulldog-Wildcat Classic title Friday

December 8, 2015

Louisburg — The Baldwin High School boys basketball team has matched their win total of a year ago three games into the young season.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the year with a 72-53 victory Tuesday against Anderson County in the second game for each team in the Bulldog-Wildcat Classic. Each team in the six-team early season tournament plays two opening games in pool play to determine brackets for a final round of play. Baldwin picked up its second win of the year Monday when it defeated Chanute, 73-69 in overtime in its first game of the tournament, and with Tuesday victory will now play for the championship Friday against one of the three teams from other other pool.

Baldwin was in charge from the beginning Tuesday, building a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter it never relinquished. The Bulldogs had a comfortable lead most of the game before an 11-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter, which included three-points from senior Nick Pattrick, junior Jeremy Williams and sophomore Jayce Dighans, gave them a 72-46 and ended all doubt.

Baldwin shared the ball with four players finishing in double figures.
