Coach, 2 players to represent Baldwin High School in metro all-star game
Key parts of the 2013 Baldwin High School football team will get together one last time tonight as part of the Greater Kansas City Area Football Coaches Association Kansas vs. Missouri All-Star Game.
Named to the Kansas squad were Bulldog senior quarterback Chad Berg and lineman Quinn Twombly. Named head coach of the Kansas squad was Baldwin High School coach Mike Berg. Greg Smith of Smithville, Mo., will coach the Missouri team.
Berg and Twombly were two of 16 seniors on the 2013 Baldwin team that went undefeated in the regular season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 4A state football playoffs. The Bulldogs finished with a 11-1 record and were the Frontier League champions.
In addition to winning All-Frontier League first-team honors, Berg and Twombly were first team selections to the AP 4A Coaches Association all-state team. Berg was named to the AP 4A all-state team and Twombly was an honorable mention. Berg was also named winner of the Lynn Dickey Award as the best small-team quarterback in Kansas.
Chad Berg will continue his football career at Morningstar College in Sioux City, Iowa, and Twombly has signed to attend Fort Scott Community College on a football scholarship.
Tonight’s all-star game will be played a 7 p.m. at Peve Stadium in Blue Springs, Mo.
