Baldwin Bulldogs qualify six for state wrestling meet
Baldwin Bulldog wrestlers earned a fourth-place team finish and qualified six wrestlers for state at Friday and Saturday’s 4A regional in Burlington.
Qualifying to wrestle at the state meet starting Friday at Salina were:
106 lbs. - Levi Green, freshman, 22-20 record (4th place)
113 lbs. - Ben Morgenstern, sophomore, 23-17 record (4th place)
126 lbs. - Thomas Lisher, freshman, 39-7 record (3rd place)
138 lbs. - Tucker Clark, SR, 36-8 record (2nd place)
145 lbs. - Jon Pratt, junior, 34-12 record (3rd place)
160 lbs. - Owen Tuckfield, sophomore, 35-16 record (3rd place)
As a team, Baldwin finished with 119 points. Chanute won the event with 181.5 points. Prairie View was second with157.5 points and Frontier League foe third with 127.5. Columbus rounded out the top five in the 16-team event with 100 points.
Clark won three matches to get into the championship round, including a first-round fall over a Parsons foe. He fell in a decision in the title match to of Chase Cole of Chanute.
Lisher improved to 39-7 on the year with his third-place decision against Jerod Heckman of Fort Scott, and Pratt earned his third-place finish with a sudden victory against Brady Vogel of Chanute.
