Bonner police seek information after 2nd Ag Hall burglary

December 9, 2014

Bonner Springs police are seeking assistance from the public after the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame was burglarized for the second time in the past three months.

The police department released a statement saying the museum, 630 N. 126th St., was burglarized on Sept. 10 and again on Nov. 5. Several museum-quality items were stolen, so police hope the unique items would be easily identified.

Stolen items included at least five mantel clocks, antique toys, miscellaneous video equipment, an antique coin collection valued at $25,000, cast iron coin banks, agricultural models, cast iron kitchen tools and other museum items.

Police reported there are no suspects at this time.

Just before the second burglary, Clausie Smith, president of the Ag Hall's board of directors, told The Chieftain newspaper that the museum's computers and the coin collection were stolen in the first burglary. He said the museum was in the process of installing a better security system.
