Baker, Johnson County choirs to present Midwest premiere of ‘Requiem’

The Baker University Choirs (Cathy Crispino, conductor) will join voices with the Johnson County Chorus (Anita Cyrier, conductor) for the Midwest premiere of Mark Hayes’ “Requiem” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, in Rice Auditorium, 404 Eighth St. on Baker’s Baldwin City campus.

The 35-minute work for chorus and chamber orchestra will feature baritone soloist, Joshua Lawlor. The program will also include Ron Nelson’s “Fanfare for a Festival,” Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus” and a festival piece on “St. Anne” by Eugene Butler, founder of the Johnson County Community Chorus.

Admission is free.
