Lumberyard offering Halloween costume swap and blues and BBQ

There will be a Halloween costume exchange from 3 from 5 p.m. at the Lumberyard Arts Center. With the conclusion of the exchange, the Lumberyard will have its annual Bluegrass and BBQ fundraiser.

The will be a Halloween costume swap from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Lumberyard Arts Center, 718 High St. Gently used costumes or accessories, such as sunglasses and old hats that could complete a costume can be traded at the event.

New this year will be a pumpkin carving contest. Carved pumpkins can be dropped off any time during the swap. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m., just before the start of LAC’s Bluegrass and BBQ fundraiser. The swap, contest and BBQ are free but freewill donations will be accepted.

The Lumberyard Arts Center’s annual Bluegrass and BBQ will start after the swap and will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lumberyard, 718 High St.

On the menu will be barbequed pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, cheesy corn bake and homemade cobblers. Iced tea, lemonade or Blue Moon beer will also be available during the evening with free will donations accepted for the food and beverages. This fundraiser will be inside the Lumberyard, so no need to worry about the weather.

The Alferd Packer Memorial String Band is the featured band for the evening with Signal Ridge with an all-acoustic music and vocal performance at 5:30 p.m.. This year, there will be a pumpkin carving contest and a guess the weight of the giant pumpkin contest.

Carved pumpkins may be brought from 3 to 5 p.m. to the Lumberyard 5 and winners will be announced during the evening.Helping sponsor the event are Custom Mobile Equipment, Hilco Mortgage Co., Baldwin State Bank, Heritage Tractor, Moose’s Backwoods BBQ, Rodrock Chiropractic and Dr. Chris Leiszler, DDS.
