Hot Spring Hill downs Baldwin girls
Spring Hill — The Spring Hill girls scored six quick points Tuesday at the start of the second half to build a six-point lead against Baldwin they would never relinquish, earning a 54-51 victory.
Baldwin made pushes in the third and fourth quarters behind junior Katie Jones, who finished with a game-high 20 points, and senior Kailyn Smith, who scored nine points in the fourth quarter.
Baldwin's defense, which as been its strength all season, gave up 22 points in the third quarter as the Bulldogs fell behind by nine points, 33-42, at the period's end.
Spring Hill connected on three 3-pointers in the decisive quarter and got a big game from Shelby Baker. The 6-2 sophomore scored 13 second-half points, eight coming from the post and five from the free throw line.
